a team rooted in history

where it began

The Continental Football League (CoFL) was a professional American football league from 1965 to 1969. It was established following the collapse of the original United Football League. The CoFL then hoped to become a major force in professional football with it's impressive coaches including Bill Walsh, Doak Walker and Steve Van Buren.

san antonio roots

The San Antonio Toros were a powerhouse football team in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Winning five consecutive league titles in the Texas Football League. In 1969 the Toros joined the CoFL, reaching the championship in their first season. The league ended up folding following the merger of the competing leagues, the NFL and AFL.

a new league emerges

After a successful season leading the Ohio Valley Ironmen, owner Manny Matsakis decided to take his model and create a fan-driven, professional league. Bringing football back to America's heartland with history, community, and innovation at it's core.

The NFL owns the fall. College dominates Saturdays. The CoFL will take over the summer with professional football in June and July, right when fans crave it most.

our team

Following the departure of the UFL from San Antonio, the CoFL  saw an opportunity for a franchise owned by Spring football fans. For Spring football fans. Thus the revitalized San Antonio Toros were born.

With the innovative and fan-driven model the CoFL has created for it's teams, the San Antonio Toros are a team forever connected to the city, meaning this pro football team will never be moved or taken from San Antonio's loyal fans.
